Elves are a race of humanoid beings, very similar in appearance to the race of humans, except for their distinct pointy ears. They seem to be immune to disease and live longer than humans. Once they reach adulthood, their appearance doesn't age. The majority of elves are peaceful and try to avoid contact with war.
Their blood is a poison that nullifies a dragon's strength. It is because of this power that the Empire seeks to slaughter them as sacrifices for the Watchers.
History
Prior to the rise of the Intoners the Lords of the Land attempted to subjugate Elves to an unknown level of success.
Between year 998 and 999 Intoner Four began a cruisade against the elven population, sighting them to not be human and as such it is not murder or manslaughter to kill them and it is more akin to killing an animal. In Four's DLC specifically she is seen downing a fleet of elven pirates despite their cries and pleas for mercy and forgiveness which Four actively ignores.
